'Waterslide' hosta's blue color holds well into summer, unlike some hybrids that fade to green. Its thick leaves stand up to harsh weather and discourage slugs from making a meal of it. The corydalis can go dormant in dry years, but don't worry: It will pop up again in the following spring. For a different color, try the rose-purple leaves of Wild Rose coral bells paired with another chartreuse-foliaged plant for an attention-getting combination.
