How to divide rhizomes

Divide your rhizomes to get more plants, keep your plants healthy and get more blooms! Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps.

Help your plants perform their best when you divide them! If you’ve noticed your plants, such as the bearded iris (Iris hybrids) here, aren’t blooming like they used to, they may need to be divided. Regular division every 3 or 4 years keeps your plants blooming well. The best time to divide rhizomes is usually sometime in the summer when they are partially dormant.
