Leaves emerge chartreuse in spring, then turn gold. If it’s growing in a little more sun, leaves will fade to creamy white by late summer. Deep purple scapes carry lavender flowers in late summer.

Grow it in containers or along a shady path — somewhere you can reach out and touch it to make sure it’s real.
