It is a safe alternative to DEET as it is appropriate for the whole family, including children over the age of 1 and pregnant women. The clothing-worn Permethrin (0.5%) insect repellent lasts up to 40 days of sun exposure and can even withstand five washing cycles. The body-worn Picaridin (20%) offers 12 hours of protection from ticks and mosquitoes with just one application. Customer Review

A buyer who has been using this product for three years gave it a five-star rating and wrote in their review, “This is a great, safe product. Just make sure you use the right one on your skin and the right one on boots, shoes and clothing. We live on three acres of woods, ticks are very prevalent here. We already have lyme disease but we don't need any new infections so we take tick prevention very seriously. I have tried cedar oils and other natural things in the past all work on a minimal level but are not reliable. These two products feel like they are very reliable, I am sure nothing is 100% but would guess these are 98% reliable from our results. We have been using these products for three years. Another helpful til is cistus tea, feed to dogs and drink yourself, it really does prevent ticks, this spray is the insurance policy.”
    Pros
    • Reliable insect prevention for clothing and skin
    • Long-lasting protective action
    • Child/travel safety stopper on the sprayer
    • Works in humid conditions
    Cons
    • Unpleasant scent for some users

Ranger Ready Tick and Insect Repellent: Buying Guide

Ticks and other insects can make being outdoors a hassle, especially when they are out in full force. However, with the right repellent, you don’t have to worry about these pests ruining your day. The Ranger Ready Tick and Insect Repellent is one of the most effective repellents on the market, offering a safe and fast-acting solution to keep ticks and other insects away. Insect repellents are an essential part of any outdoor activity. From a day at the beach to camping in the woods, repelling insects is necessary to keep yourself and your family safe from bites and stings. When choosing a repellent, several essential factors must be considered to ensure you get the most effective and safe product.

    Safety

It is essential to consider the safety of the insect repellent. Look for products labeled “safe for use on humans” and “organic” or “natural” to ensure there are no potential health risks associated with their use. Additionally, check the ingredient list to be sure that potentially toxic or unsafe chemicals are not present.

    Ingredients

Insect repellents come in many formulations, including sprays, lotions, and creams. These products contain synthetic chemicals like DEET, picaridin, or permethrin. Although these chemicals have been deemed safe for human use, they may have unpleasant odors, and some people may have skin sensitivities. If this concerns you, look for natural brands that rely on plant extracts such as cedar oil or lemon eucalyptus oil instead.

    Smell

Insect repellents can have a strong smell even when using a mild product; however, some formulas come scented with pleasant fragrances such as citronella or lavender. If you are particularly sensitive to smells, opt for unscented varieties or natural products that contain essential oils like lemongrass or tea tree oil.

    Duration

Different products can offer different levels of protection for varying amounts of time. For example, some products might last up to eight hours before needing reapplication, while others might last only two hours. Consider how long you need protection from insects when deciding on a product. If you plan on being outdoors or camping, you should look for a product that offers longer-lasting protection from bugs.

    Type of Insects

Different types of insect repellent offer protection against different species of insects. It is essential to consider what types of insects are active in your specific area when choosing an insect repellent. Some products may work well against mosquitoes but not against ticks or other pests, while others may offer more general protection against multiple types of insects. Check labels carefully to determine what types of pests the product will protect against and if it offers any protection against specific species that may be common in your region.

    Application Method

Insect repellents come in many forms, such as sprays, lotions, and creams, which can be applied directly to the skin or clothing for protection against pests. Some products may require special application techniques, although most will offer easy-to-follow instructions on how to use the product for maximum effectiveness with minimal mess and fuss.

    Environment

It is vital to consider your environment. Many formulas are designed specifically for indoor or outdoor use, so double-check this before purchasing. Many insect repellents contain active ingredients that can have adverse environmental effects if released into water sources or airways. These toxins can also pose health risks if breathed in or ingested by animals or humans. When selecting an insect repellent, look for “environmentally friendly” products and read labels carefully to know what kind of impact each product might have on your environment.

    Storage

Most insect repellents come in aerosol cans or pump bottles; however, some products may need special storage conditions, such as refrigeration, if they contain specific active ingredients, which can degrade over time in high temperatures. Consider where you plan to store the product before making a purchase; this will help you determine which type of packaging and storage conditions are most appropriate for your needs.
