Summer is finally here and a great activity to use some of your free time on is camping. If you cannot take a trip to the woods or are not a fan of the outdoors, your backyard is a good alternative for having a similar experience! It’s a fantastic way to get some fresh air as well as spend time with your family and friends. This could also be used to get a feel of what actual camping would be like. Before you create wonderful memories while enjoying nature in your backyard, here is a list of the five things to buy when preparing for a campout.

TENT

One of the main reasons why people enjoy camping is sleeping in a tent. Sleeping outside is different from our day-to-day norm, but is exciting especially for the kids! There are many tents that differ in setup difficulty, sizes, and rooms. Although there are multiple ways to sleep outside when camping (like using a sleeping bag or hammock), a tent is great for protection from bugs and the weather. Using a tent in your backyard also gives you the opportunity to practice setting up a tent if you have not before in preparation for any future trip.

COOLER

While your kitchen is only steps away, enhance the feeling of truly being outdoors by using a cooler. Who wants to have to keep going back and forth to the fridge when there is a better option available? A cooler is a convenient way to keep any drinks and food you have that need to be kept cold using ice. You don’t have to use any power for the cooler and can enjoy your refreshments right from your yard.

OUTDOOR PROJECTOR

Setting up your backyard like a drive-in movie theater is an awesome way to upgrade your backyard camping experience. You and your loved ones can enjoy delicious snacks under the moon and stars while watching movies. Outdoor projectors come in various sizes, giving you the choice of how big you want your picture to be when viewing. Another reason to add this to your shopping list is that it is easy to put together and take down when not in use.

SLEEPING BAG

If you don’t care about putting together a tent or want to add some extra comfort when sleeping inside of one, purchasing a sleeping bag is essential for your campout. Sleeping bags provide warmth when sleeping and are easy to set up for your convenience. Some people use them as a substitute emergency blanket. These bags are also more affordable than some other sleeping alternatives when camping outdoors.

GRILL

A grill is an outdoor cooking classic to be able to cook yummy foods over the fire. From hot dogs and burgers to even s’mores, a grill can provide you with the equipment needed to make a meal for everyone to enjoy. If you already have one that you use every year for backyard BBQs, this is one thing on the list that you do not have to worry about purchasing. If you do not have one or are planning to go on an actual camping trip, it is best to get a portable grill. These kinds of grills are lightweight and easier to move around.

This is our official list of the top five things to buy when doing your backyard camp out! Happy camping!
