Gardening Accessories To Stay Cool and Plant With Ease
Gardening is a year-round hobby. Even during the cold winter seasons, you can do a little bit of indoor gardening if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to do so. Arguably, the most difficult season to garden in would be during summer — the hot rays of the sun can make it very difficult to work under direct heat, and if you’re unprepared, you can end up fatigued, dehydrated, or worse.
Fortunately, gardeners can adapt, and with the help of these fancy accessories and trinkets, you can stay cool for as long as you need.
BEST GARDENING ACCESSORIES TO BEAT THE HEAT
Gardening hat
A gardening hat is very important to have on all the time, regardless of the season. Even during cooler days, you can still feel the sun’s heat at noon, and this becomes even more of an issue during summer. Because of this, a gardening hat is a necessity whenever you plan on working during the middle of the day.
Gardening hats offer ample shade for your head when you work. You can more clearly see your environment and you won’t feel as hot. Gardening hats are also relatively light and offer some degree of breathability so you won’t feel stuffy inside the hat, either. It’s a great accessory to have overall, and it’s cute to wear, too, if nothing else.
Fan
This next accessory may seem a little excessive, but for those really hot days when you just can’t feel even the slightest breeze pass through, having a portable electric fan can be a godsend. Of course, you won’t want to use the electric fan anywhere — if you use one that’s too strong while it’s close to your plants, bad things may happen, so you’ll want to find a safe distance from which to place it on. Aside from this, you should also remember to charge the electric fan when not in use so that it’ll be at full power whenever you head out to the garden.
If portable electric fans are not your style, then you can simply get a hand fan instead. The design of the fan itself doesn’t matter — as long as it’s easy to hold and you can use it whenever you want, the fan is the perfect companion for when you just can’t take the heat anymore.
Thermos
Finally, it’s important to have a thermos for when you need to get your fix of water. While you’d normally use a thermos to keep hot water hot, you can also similarly keep cold water cold with it, too. This means that you can fill the thermos with cold, refreshing water before you enter the garden and you’ll have instant access to that same water whenever you like. Even if you don’t go out often, having a thermos can be handy for gardening, so it’s worth having nonetheless.
It’s important to remember to keep the thermos closed when you’re not drinking. It can only keep the cold water cold as long as there’s no way for the heat to enter the thermos, and this can only happen if you leave the thermos open. If you want your cold water to stay nice and cool, be sure to close the thermos at all times.
