‘Safari Tangerine’ French marigold (Tagetes patula)

By: Garden Gate staff
Long-lasting and vibrant color doesn’t get simpler than ‘Safari Tangerine’ French marigold.

‘Safari Tangerine’ French marigold (Tagetes patula)

Get lots of flowers without a lot of work! It’s easy with ‘Safari Tangerine’ French marigold. The large, nearly 3-inch double orange blooms can go anywhere in full sun, from containers to beds and borders, as a bold mass or eye-catching edging, like at left. And you’ll never have to worry about cutting back leggy growth. At 10 to 12 inches tall and wide, plants stay compact.

Throughout the season, snap off spent flower heads at the top of the stem to keep plants looking neat and encourage new blooms. After the first hard freeze, just pull plants, which may reseed on their own, but might not always come true, and toss on the compost pile.
