Hose guide how-to
Don’t pay for pricey hose guides! Making a set of your own is simple. Start by cutting 18-inch pieces of 1X1 lumber into stakes. Then screw a curtain holdback (discount stores carry them for less than $10 a pair) to the wood and spray paint the whole thing your favorite color. Once the paint dries, use a rubber mallet to hammer the stake into the ground.
These homemade hose guides aren’t just less expensive — they offer better plant protection. The distinct hook on top makes sure your hose stays in place, just like you see in the photo at left.
