Simple and stunning!

By: Garden Gate staff
Beautiful and easy-to-make, these garden towers will add height anywhere.

Simple and stunning!

You don’t have to spend a lot to have beautiful garden ornaments! Four lathe-turned table legs were the inspiration for the homemade towers here.

Once you have a finial, cut down 2×4s as supports for your tower. These were made with leftover fence wood, already treated for outdoor use, and cedar and oak scraps. Add vertical crossbars for extra stability, and top with your finial. Finish with an eye-catching paint color that complements your garden.

The towers on the left stand about 6 feet tall, adding lots of height. They’re also a good-looking support for climbing vines, such as sweet peas and tall-growing flowers. Leave them outdoors until late fall, and then move them to a covered area, for protection against excess moisture.
