Exciting new flower color

This easy-care perennial boasts a striking new color.

Exciting new flower color

Looking for a unique, but reliable, bloom? Decadence® ‘Dutch Chocolate’ false indigo has the same classic good looks, disease and deer resistance and easy-going care needs as the original native species, but it’s smaller, with unusual, attention-grabbing flower color.

Deep purple and yellow blooms, at left, open in late spring, against a backdrop of dusty blue-green foliage. Later in summer, purple seedpods, like you see in the inset photo, form, lasting into winter.

Although false indigo is normally a slow grower, ‘Dutch Chocolate’ is quite vigorous — expect it to reach maturity in just a few years. Plus, leaves fill in lower on the plant, so you won’t have to hide any “bare legs” on this versatile perennial.
