Burnet has fabulous flowers and foliage

Dress up your fall garden with this unique perennial! Distinctive leaves — gray-green with a scalloped edge — and bobbing wine-purple blooms make burnet (Sanguisorba tenuifolia) the perfect addition to any late-season bed or border. It can easily reach up to 4 feet tall or more, but the airy catkins, or flower clusters, won’t block your view. Pair it with ornamental grasses and wildflowers for an informal look. Its long-lasting blooms keep their color, lingering on the stems to add winter interest, too.
