Keep pets out

Have a curious cat? Protect overwintering plants from damage until next spring.

Keep pets out

When it’s time to bring plants inside to overwinter, here’s an easy way to keep cats from bothering them.

Save the mesh bags from fruits and veggies, cut them open and lay them over the pot. Then use popsicle sticks as stakes to hold the netting above the plants — this works well for dormant bulbs. Or simply stretch the bag over the container, and clip clothespins around the pot’s lip to hold bags in place, like at left.
