From spring to summer
As you choose plants for containers, don’t just select what’s in bloom at the garden center — think about how your picks will hold up the rest of the season, too.
For example, all of these plants do fine in late spring to early summer, and later, the lantanas and zinnia will take the heat in stride.

The snapdragons and gerbera daisy may slow down, but you can nurse them along until fall or easily replace them with heat lovers, like an ornamental grass or gloriosa daisy (Rudbeckia hirta).
