Welcome spring
Cape daisies add jubilation to mixed containers! Just pick one color from the rainbow of choices at the garden center and build the rest of your container around that hue.
Bright ‘Lemon Symphony’ here has a violet-blue eye, which is more visible when paired with blue or purple. Add a blue-green soft rush and a spray of bright blue lobelia for a trio that’s ready for spring.

Container recipe
To encourage new blooms, snip off cape daisy’s spent flowers and withered stems. Once temps warm up and it starts to decline, it’s easy to swap in a summer filler in its place. Try coleus (Solenostemon hybrids) or New Guinea impatiens (Impatiens hawkeri), both of which will last until frost.
Laguna Sky Blue is a standout lobelia because it can can take the heat better than most. Full sun is fine in spring, but afternoon shade is better in summer. Just shear it back by a third if it gets leggy as the season goes on.
