Pie tin plant labels
Mark plants before they go dormant! You can make labels that weather well from disposable pie tins and roasting pans. Just cut the aluminum into square or rectangular pieces large enough to fit cultivar names and other important info, such as year planted or a clematis’ (Clematis spp. and hybrids) pruning group.
To mark each label, place it on top of a magazine or newspaper and use the tip of a ball point pen to indent one side.
Then, with a pair of needle-nose pliers, fold the cut edges under, so no sharp or jagged spots remain, poke a hole into the tin and hang the label on or near a plant.
