Mess-free pest control

By: Garden Gate staff
Use this handy, cost-saving technique to take care of insect pests.

Mess-free pest control

Don’t worry about spraying or picking out the insect pests underneath your row covers. Instead, fill a plastic bottle with water, put the cap back on and slather the outside with Tanglefoot® or any sticky substance that won’t melt. Then stand the bottle underneath the row cover, a few feet into the bed, just like you see here.

During the day, the sunlight heats the water inside the bottle, which stays warm even after dusk, when many insect pests are most active. Bugs attracted to the warmth are drawn to the bottle, where they’re trapped by stickiness.
