Cold-hardy and beautiful!
Don’t skip shrub roses (Rosa hybrids) just because you live in a cold winter area! And don’t worry about time-consuming protection in fall, either. There are some shrub roses that are so cold-hardy, they survive freezing temperatures and harsh winter winds without any help from you. Plus, when a late frost is predicted, you won’t have to worry about bud damage.
Pale lavender-pink ‘Applejack’ at left is cold-hardy to USDA zone 4, which means temps as low as -20 degrees F won’t affect this shrub — saving you time on winter prep.
