A good drink
Soak them in warm water overnight first! This way, they’re rehydrated before they go in the ground. See the size difference between the wet and dry tubers on the left? Without a good soaking, they won’t get the moisture they need to kick start them out of dormancy.
If you can’t tell top from bottom on Grecian windflowers’ squat tubers, it doesn’t matter; they’ll still grow.
