From old to new
Don’t spend a small fortune on materials or installation to get the perfect pathway! It’s easy to sidestep cost and have a beautifully-crafted path — the rustic walkway to the left was made entirely from old deck boards.
Cut the salvaged wood to size and then set it over a bed of 4 in. of sand for good drainage. After the last coat of waterproofing (like nontoxic Thompson’s® WaterSeal®), sprinkle sand on the boards to prevent slipping and sliding.
You can even repurpose old bricks and broken concrete in the same way. No matter what material you choose to recycle, your path will be totally unique.
