Make a big space more comfortable

By: Garden Gate staff
Here’s an easy tip for using texture to make a big space seem smaller and more intimate.

Make a big space more comfortable

Want to make a large space feel smaller and more intimate? Position the coarsest texture, such as the elephant ears here, as far away from your usual vantage point as possible. Your eyes will focus on this coarse-textured plant and it’ll appear to jump out at you as you look past the finer materials. The distance will remain the same, but your mind reads the illusion that the depth is more shallow than it really is.
