Keep shrubs safe
Don’t lose young shrubs to cold, harsh winter weather! With a utility knife, cut the bottom from a large, empty nursery pot and carefully set it over recently planted shrubs for winter protection. Keep it from blowing off or shifting in the wind with wooden stakes screwed into the plastic, just like at left.
Not only will this shield shrubs from strong, drying gusts — rabbits won’t be able to chew tender bark, either. When the temps warm up in spring, it’s easy to pull the container off, stakes and all.
