IDENTIFICATION — Typically green or brown, these insects prey on aphids, beetles, caterpillars, leafhoppers, flies and wasps. Unfortunately, they also sometimes eat butterflies and bees (as well other praying mantises!).

HOW TO ATTRACT IT — The best way to attract beneficial insects like praying mantises to your garden is to limit your use of pesticides. These insects are good to have around — so don’t squish any you see!
