Hose mender how-to
Don’t toss your damaged garden hose just yet! This easy fix will save you cash — decent hoses can run about $30, at least. If yours only has a few leaks, look for hose menders at your local hardware store.
Our favorite kind is a plastic coupling, like the one in the step-by-step photos ahead. They’re inexpensive (around $2 each), reusable and mend small and large leaks both.
Just follow the simple instructions ahead to repair your hose in minutes!

Prepare the hose
Cut out the hole with scissors or a sharp knife, like we used here, leaving straight edges for the mender to fit easily fit onto.

Simple secret
The coupling will fit better if you dunk both cut ends of the hose in hot water or hold them over a flame for a few seconds. This helps make the connection as snug as possible.

Finish up
Then just tighten the cover to secure the coupling.
