Hanging basket helper
Save time watering! You don’t have to reach up and feel the soil whenever you pass your hanging basket. It only takes a quick glance to know when to water when you add a small fish scale, like the one here, between the basket and its chain. (If you don’t have an unused fish scale in your garage, check garage sales or a local outdoor and sporting goods store.)
Just hang the dry basket and check its weight on the scale. Water it well and check the scale one more time — it should be about double the weight. As the basket dries out, the numbers on the scale will get smaller, reminding you to water.
