Welcome, spring!

Eastern pasque flower's beautiful, unique blooms are some of the first signs of spring!

Welcome, spring!

Even when there’s still a little snow on the ground, eastern pasque flower blooms in shades of blue-violet to nearly white. Notice the fine coating of fuzz on the leaves and stems here? In exposed locations, it helps protect the plant from cold, harsh spring winds. Its wispy seedheads, in the inset, break into individual seeds, and some will sprout new plants.
