Flower Shapes — Globes and Trumpets
Allium and lily
Flower shapes play a big role in the visual appeal of your garden. Here's a simple combo that can give you plenty of impact – globes and trumpets. Since globes and trumpets are attention-getters, neither outshines the other. You'll notice that in this photo, the flowers are similar in size. If this allium were smaller, it might be overwhelmed by the lily

Combining two strong shapes that peak at different times is a good way to keep attention focused on a specific part of your garden. Here the allium peaks before the lily takes over as focal point rather than leaving a hole when the allium fades.

In the foolproof combo at left, the globe-shaped allium is paired with a trumpet-shaped lily.
