Clematis columbiana tenuiloba
|
  |
Not every clematis was meant to grow on a trellis. This newly available species, native to the Rocky Mountains, is really more of a ground cover than a climber. Small violet umbrella-shaped flowers cover the plant in spring and are followed by the typical fuzzy clematis seedheads. And this clematis does well in sharply drained soils, making it an excellent rock garden plant. |
